eChemLabs is looking for a talented Mid Full-Stack / Backend Developer to join its product team. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a high-performing group developing a cutting-edge product used by organizations at the forefront of scientific innovation.
eChemLabs’ mission is to accelerate the development of electrochemical solutions through an intelligent platform powered by AI and Foundation Models. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the AI/Foundation Model Architect to integrate advanced AI capabilities into production-level backend services. You will play a key role in designing and building a reliable, scalable, and efficient backend infrastructure to support modeling and analysis of electrochemical data.
This is a remote-first position based in the EU, requiring less than 20% travel.
As a Mid Full-Stack / Backend Developer, you will:
- Collaborate closely with the AI/Foundation Model Architect to integrate foundation models, pipelines, and inference APIs into the backend.
- Develop and maintain scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices.
- Design and implement robust data pipelines for structured input/output data.
- Work on integrations with vector stores, databases, and external APIs.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and DevOps infrastructure (CI/CD, cloud deployments).
- Apply best practices for performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
- Actively participate in product development, providing technical insight and feedback.
Minimum Qualifications
Must-Have Skills and Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in full-stack or backend development, ideally in a startup environment.
- Strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) or Node.js (NestJS, Express).
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL systems.
- Solid understanding of API design principles, authentication, and security.
- Basic familiarity with AI/ML pipelines or integration with AI APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.).
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail and execution speed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, or Vue) to support full-stack flows.
- Understanding of RAG, vector embeddings, and LLM integration concepts.
- Prior experience working on AI-driven products or data-intensive systems.
- Knowledge of performance optimization, caching strategies, and API cost management.
- Interest in scientific or electrochemical applications is a plus.
